Domaine Gayda unveils the Gayda-Sphère range

Domaine Gayda is renowned for its commitment to drawing the quintessential essence of the contrasting terroirs of Languedoc-Roussillon

Gayda Sphere

It is proud to present its new Gayda-Sphère range (RRP £12.50, Cambridge Wine Merchants). Each cuvée from this collection of four, single-variety wines is a unique representation of the heart and soul of the remarkable vineyards passionately cultivated by the dynamic Audoise estate.

Destination Gayda-Sphère

Domaine Gayda is a destination, not just a domain,” says Tim Ford, one of the Domaine’s co-founders and its Managing Director.

The Gayda-Sphère range invites wine lovers to embark on an immersive journey that explores everything that makes up Domaine Gayda, that is to say its atmosphere, its ecosphere and its biosphere, in essence, the Gayda-Sphère.

Our ambition is to highlight the spirit of Domaine Gayda through each bottle within this new range,” says Vincent Chansault, the Domaine’s talented Winemaker.

From a mosaic of terroirs to a mosaic of flavours

In exploring the diversity of its terroirs, Domaine Gayda shakes up the conventions and dictates of appellations by unveiling an innovative range of varietal wines in the Pays d’Oc IGP. Vincent Chansault reminds us that “We have a vast repertoire to choose from.” The Gayda-Sphère range embraces the land and the sea, connecting its terroirs of the Languedoc with those of the Roussillon through four different grapes: Viognier, Chardonnay, Grenache and Syrah. Where tradition and modernity meet, Gayda-Sphère captures the essence of these grape varieties through cuvées with assertive identities.

“An exploration of the soul of our terroirs in four parts ”

At Domaine Gayda, wine is more than just a product. It’s a sensory experience that tells a story. A story of the land of its origins, those who created it, and the passion that brought it all to life. It is in this spirit that we have created the Gayda-Sphère range, a four-part exploration of the soul of our terroirs,” explains Vincent Chansault.

From the limestone terroirs of La Livinière and Malepère, to the Rousillon schists, each cuvée is a journey of unprecedented flavours:

  • The Syrah cuvée: from the limestone terroirs of La Livinière and the schist terroirs of Roussillon, this 100% Syrah exudes a complex bouquet of blueberry, blackcurrant, violet and peony, with underlying notes of black pepper and liquorice. On the palate, it is a full bodied and well-balanced wine, structured by subtle tannins and endowed with a long finish.
  • The Grenache cuvée: from the limestone terroirs of the Minervois and the shales of the Côtes Catalanes, this 100% Grenache exudes pronounced notes of rich black fruits and is layered with subtle notes of liquorice and pepper. On the palate it offers a rich attack, carried by aromas of black fruits and peppermint. On the whole, it is fresh and complex wine, evolving towards a spicy liquorice finish.
  • The Viognier cuvée: from the limestone terroirs of the Minervois and aged on fine lees for six months, this is a varietal wine that stands out for its originality. The initial nose of fennel is quickly embellished by aromas of fresh apricot, bergamot, quince and beeswax. On the palate, the wine surprises with its freshness and intensity, offering aromas of acacia and lime, which then evolve towards notes of citrus zest and bitter almond.
  • The Chardonnay cuvée: coming from the limestone terroirs of Minervois and Malepère, this 100% chardonnay is partially aged in barrels for six months. On opening, it reveals a delicate nose that exudes subtle notes of vanilla bean. On the palate, the wine is lively and fresh, and supported by citrus aromas that give way to undertones of vanilla. The complex finish offers refreshing notes of lemon caviar which then yield to aromas of bitter almond.
An unwavering commitment to Biodiversity and Ecology

“Nature gives back to you what you gave it,” says Vincent Chansault, as each drop of the wines in the Gayda-Sphère range invites you on a fascinating journey through the property’s ecosystem, an immersive experience that captures the atmosphere, ecosphere and biosphere of this exceptional estate. He then adds, “By tasting the wines of the Gayda-Sphère range, you plunge yourself into our world, you sense the unwavering commitment we have for biodiversity and ecology, and you feel the spirit of Domaine Gayda.”

Domaine Gayda

In the Audois village of Brugairolles, a stone’s throw from Carcassonne, Domaine Gayda has built a solid reputation since its creation in 2003. At the origin of this epic adventure is a trio composed of Tim Ford, Anthony Record and Vincent Chansault. In 2004, they built a modern winery to vinify quality wines. In 2005, the first cuvées were created, immediately seducing the public. Today, the estate is reputed for its pioneering spirit in its approach to viticulture. It is also renowned for its dedication to producing singular and authentic cuvées that are capable of revealing the intrinsic typicities of the four terroirs that go to make up this remarkable vineyard.
