It’s Tarrango Time

Extend Your Summer with The Cool Taste Of Australia

Tarrango

Not ready to say goodbye to summer yet, then bring some Australian sunshine to your table with Brown Brothers Tarrango, the perfect chilled red wine to elongate these warm months. Crafted specifically to thrive in the Australian heat, Tarrango is a light-bodied red wine ideal for drinking chilled. It is juicy, refreshing and bursting with fresh fruit flavours, perfect for keeping you cool for months to come.

A vibrant strawberry magenta in colour, Tarrango is produced by one of the first wine families in Australia, Brown Brothers, in northwest Victoria. With the 4th generation now at the helm, Katherine, Emma and Caroline Brown have modernised Tarrango to fit today’s consumer palates with new winemaking techniques brought in since the last time it was available in the UK.

Full of fruity aromas including fresh berries, cherries and a hint of spice, offering a delicate, dry finish, Tarrango provides a true taste of Australian sunshine.

So whether you are entertaining friends or enjoying a quiet evening in the garden, Tarrango is the perfect accompaniment to balmy late-summer evenings. Enjoy a glass chilled on its own or share a bottle alongside marinated grilled chicken or vegetables, peppery cheeses or a spicy fish curry.

Peter Morrell, Editor comments “Tarrango is a wine in its own class, it’s a Red but it also has elements White and Rosé. The grape, which bears the same name as the wine, is a hybrid of red and white grapes. To many people the idea of chilling red wine is something they would never contemplate, but for Tarrango, with its light body and delicate fruity tastes, it really does enhance the drinking experience.

It pours exactly same same colour as a ruby, complete with flashes of light. The bouquet has delicate aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cherry. On the palate cherry flavours dominate, backed up with a range of soft summer fruits including cranberry and blackcurrant, there are also spicy and smoky hints.

This intriguing wine has achieved a good balance between acidity and tannins. This makes the wine very smooth and dry. The finish is bright with fruit flavours and a touch of earthiness.

I matched Tarrango with a curry, a Chicken Zacuti, and a combination of the wine’s temperature and its acidity tamed the heat of the dried chillis admirably. I would recommend that you try this unique and versatile wine.

Brown Brothers Tarrango is now available online and in Booths stores across the North West, RRP £8.99

About Tarrango

The brainchild of the late Dr Alan Antcliff of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), who developed a number of new grape varieties to suit the Australian vine growing climate as well as the tastebuds of consumers, Tarrango is a unique Australian grape variety, created by crossing the lesser-known Portuguese red grape variety Touriga Nacional with the versatile white grape Sultana. It is the Sultana grape variety that contributes to the balance of good natural acidity, with the Touriga grape variety providing the bright vibrant colour.
