Made by Howard Park, one of Western Australia’s most celebrated wine producers, from carefully cultivated grapes. D’Arenberg ‘The Witches Berry’ Organic Chardonnay, £12.50
o add complexity the majority of the wine is fermented and matured in old French oak for seven months. Witches Berry is a weed that grows in the vineyards. Italian women once put the juice of the berry in their eyes which dilated their pupils, making them appear darker and more beautiful.
Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in McLaren vale, South Australia. Today, fourth generation family member Chester makes distinctive wines using traditional and sustainable methods in the vineyard and the winery. Small batches of grapes are gently crushed, chilled, and then basket pressed.
