96 Months to mature Roebuck’s Rare Expressions No.96

Ahead of English Wine Week 2025, which takes place from 21-29 June, premium vintage English Sparkling Wine brand Roebuck Estates can announce the launch of a very special limited-edition vintage sparkling wine. The second release within Roebuck’s luxury Rare Expressions collection, just 1,625 bottles of the decadent Rare Expressions No.96 (£95; https://www.roebuckestates.co.uk) are available, each individually labelled to highlight its rarity and making every bottle extra special.
Roebuck’s Rare Expressions range is a special collection of limited-edition vintage sparkling wines that showcase the finest expression of a particular grape variety, place, or moment in time. Rare Expressions No.96 is a wonderful expression of time – a wine that has been crafted and aged in bottle for 96 months before release.
A special wine that is elevated by time, Roebuck’s Rare Expressions No.96 has been crafted with the finest fruit from the 2014 growing season, illustrating the importance of honouring time when making exceptional sparkling wine – something that the fast-growing English Sparkling Wine brand has become renowned for, its range winning multiple awards at the highest level and listed within some of the country’s most iconic settings (The Savoy, the Mandarin Oriental, The Fat Duck).
“Our Roebuck Rare Expressions No.96 comes from the fantastic 2014 vintage and is testament to the virtues of patience and time required to make exceptional vintage sparkling wine,” explains Jake Wicks, Head of Viticulture at Roebuck Estates. “We tasted the wine every year to assess its evolution in bottle, a process that quickly proved that ageing sparkling wines is not linear! However, after 96 months, the wine tasted incredible – deliciously rich, yet still refined, with layer upon layer of complexity – so it felt like the perfect moment to disgorge it.”
Comprising a classic blend of Chardonnay (47%), Pinot Noir (38%), and Pinot Meunier (15%) – the three grape varietals found in Champagne and which are the sole focus of Roebuck Estates – Rare Expressions No.96 is a rich, yet beautifully balanced wine, deep golden in colour, with delicate bubbles and a velvety texture leading to a long-lingering finish. It imparts delightful notes of baked apples, honey, and a biscuity richness, layered with hints of toasted walnuts and candied citrus peel.
“This really is a very special collection,” says Michael Kennedy, CEO of Roebuck Estates. “Our Rare Expressions No.96 represents one of our oldest wine releases to date and joins our debut release, Rare Expressions No.19, which was released last year and is loved by sommeliers, currently being poured by the glass at the Mandarin Oriental.” Inspired by the journey a wine takes during the ageing process in bottle, the intricate label also tells a story of craftmanship, time, and evolution. Featuring Roebuck’s signature Roe Deer icon, the exquisite, graduated foiling effect emulates what is happening to the wine in bottle over time, as it develops richer, golden tones, more complex notes, and greater depth of flavour and texture.
