Tesco expands its wine range

Helping shoppers toast the arrival of the new season

Tesco is welcoming the new season with a refreshed line-up of wines to suit every palate, occasion and budget. From bright, vibrant whites made with lesser-known grape varieties to rich, full-bodied reds that are perfect for cosy autumn evenings, the range combines flavour, discovery and value, as life returns to routine after the summer.

With 37 new wines including the first ‘pet nat’ wine in the range, a juicy Beaujolais perfect for seeing out the last of the lighter evenings and crisp Riesling to savour with a home-cooked meal, the new range provides customers with the perfect opportunity to try something different as they settle into the cooler months ahead.

The new wines in Tesco stores and online now include:

Alma 4 Phos Pet Nat, 12.5%, £12

Vibrant and pure, Alma 4 Phos Pet-Nat shines with lively and natural fizz. The delicate Chardonnay base exudes freshness, almost tasting like the moment of harvest. Best served chilled, the wine reveals a crisp energy, a gentle sweetness, and an authentic, light-hearted charm.

Nepenthe Adelaide Hills Grüner Veltliner, 12.5%, £16

The grapes used to make this wine were picked in the cool of the night to preserve their aromas and freshness, before being swiftly destemmed and crushed. With floral notes of dried pineapple and lemon, this wine pairs beautifully with a Thai green curry or sushi.

Pikes Traditionale Riesling, 11.5%, £13

A crisp, light-bodied wine crafted from premium fruit sourced from both grower and estate vineyards in Polish Hill River in South Australia. Refreshing and ready to enjoy now, this wine is capable of rewarding cellaring for 7–10 years.

Aveleda Alvarinho Vinho Verde, 9.4%, £10

Often called the “diva” of white varieties, Alvarinho flourishes in its chosen terroir in northern Portugal. Expertly crafted, this wine delivers a silky balance of tropical fruit and citrus notes and is irresistibly vibrant.

d’Arenberg The Hermit Crab Viognier Marsanne, 14%, £13

A touch of French oak ageing adds depth and texture to this wine, enhancing the stone fruit richness of Viognier and Marsanne. Named after the limestone soils that were once home to marine life — including hermit crabs — this is McLaren Vale’s pioneering blend of two Rhône varietals. Often enjoyed as an apéritif.

Sundown Beach Pinot Grigio, 8.6%, £5.50

Fresh and zesty, this Pinot Grigio from California is bursting with citrus, apple, and peach flavours. Perfect alongside creamy pasta or chicken or simply savoured as the sun sets.

Kylie Minogue Petit Rosé, 7%, £8

This lightly sparkling wine-based rosé drink offers lively notes of summer berries coupled with delicate floral tones. Crisp, elegant, and refreshing, it shines as an apéritif or paired with seasonal dishes like creamy burrata and peach salad.

Grão Vasco Dão Vinho Tinto, 13%, £8.50

This vibrant Portuguese red boasts bright flavours of ripe berries, supple tannins, and a fresh, youthful character — all without the influence of oak. The wine complements roast lamb and potatoes.

Famille Lafont Gigondas, 14.5%, £17.50

From the sun-soaked vineyards of the Southern Rhône, this Gigondas reveals lush red berry aromas, smooth tannins, and notes of warm spice. This is a generous and expressive red shaped by the rugged limestone and sandy soils of its terroir, and pairs perfectly with a rib of beef.

L’Oustalet by Famille Perrin Ventoux, 13%, £9.50

Sourced from the slopes of Mont Ventoux, this elegant blend reflects the heart and heritage of the Perrin family. This graceful Southern Rhône red, crafted with deep respect for the land and its traditions, can be enjoyed with grilled meats, pastas and cheeses.

Errazuriz Gran Reserva Carmenere, 13.5%, £11.50

Since 1870, Errazuriz has been dedicated to fine Chilean winemaking. This Gran Reserva unfolds layers of ripe figs, plums, and roasted coffee, with subtle notes of paprika and black pepper. Silky tannins lead to a lingering, velvety finish to be relished with grilled lamb chops.

La Burgondie Beaujolais, 12.5%, £9

From the legendary Burgundian terroir, this garnet-purple Beaujolais offers aromas of raspberries, redcurrants, and wild strawberries. Silky and expressive on the palate, with a delicate finish of peonies and a touch of spice, it complements charcuterie boards, soft cheeses, and even vegetarian meals perfectly.

Maruxa Mencia, 13%, £12.50

Peter Morrell, Editor, comments “This wine is made in Galicia, located in the northwest of Spain. My interest in this wine was piqued by fact that it is made with the Mencia grape, a variety native to the area, and one that I have never tasted before.

The wine pours a bright ruby red colour and the nose is heavy with fruit flavours like blackberry, plum and cherry, which reminded me of a pinot noir. In the mouth the body sits between medium and bold, and the tannins and acidity are both well balanced. Once on the palate it is more akin to a cabernet franc, deep, earthy tones, tobacco, wood smoke and blackcurrants take centre stage. The biggest surprise however was the strong floral thread of violets. In all this wine offers a highly complex and interesting taste experience.

The finish is very strong with earthy and fruit notes that are long lasting. Pair this wine with a traditional Galician favourite, ‘Cordero asado’, lamb roasted with herbs and garlic.
