To mark International Merlot Day on 7th November, Tesco is highlighting its wide range of Merlots, offering customers excellent value and quality. With bottles from Chile, South Africa, and France, there is something to suit every taste and budget.

Tesco Finest Valle De Colchagua Merlot, £9
From Chile’s renowned Colchagua Valley, where the terroir is best suited to classic red grapes like Merlot. This fine red wine is deep in colour, with aromas of plums, cherries and vanilla, followed by a luscious and concentrated palate with a smooth and juicy finish. Pairs with Lamb cutlets tacos and lasagne
Luis Felipe Edwards Gran Reserva Merlot, £10
This Merlot presents aromas of strawberries and plums, with silky tannins, great body on the palate, and a persistent finish. During every vintage at the Luis Felipe Edwards estate, grapes selected from the best areas are vinified separately under the personal supervision of the Head Winemaker. These wines are always included in the family’s private cellar and reserved for special occasions.
First Cape Special Cuvee Merlot, £7
The beautiful vineyards of the floral kingdom of the Western Cape are famed for their soft and fruity expression of the Merlot grape This Special Cuvée Merlot is packed with ripe plum and black cherry flavours. A soft, fruity and smooth style, perfect on its own or with simple pizza and pasta dishes.
Wairau Cove Merlot, £8.50
Wairau Cove is created by master winemakers from the magnificent vineyards of Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand’s North Island a perfect natural climate to make great tasting wine. The result is a smooth and juicy Merlot bursting with cherry, plum and berry aromas and subtle spice notes. Best served at room temperature with lamb, pan fried duck or casseroles.
Des Tourelles Claret Bordeaux (87% merlot), £5.75

Paul Mas Reserve Merlot, £10
Paul Mas Réserve Single Vineyard Collection wines come from Jean-Claude Mas’s vineyards in Occitanie region in the South of France. Conas vineyard is located on the hillsides of the Hérault Valley, around the Château Paul Mas, the cradle of Domaines Paul Mas. Our family has a winemaking tradition of over 100 years. The vines are planted in Clavey and chalky soil with fossils and enjoy a unique microclimate. The wine is vinified with traditional methods, long maceration and then aged in oak barrels, resulting in a quintessence of red and black berry flavours evolving towards plum and cocoa notes.
