Peter Morrell of About My Generation wins top journalist prize

Our very own Managing Editor, Peter Morrell, was recently honoured by the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC) by being awarded the prize ‘Journalist of the Year’


On 24 April, the third annual ‘Taste the Dutch Lifestyle’ Travel Writer Awards took place at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, in London. The awards were organised to honour UK journalists who have written outstanding articles about Holland in 2012.

The evening was organised in association with: Arts Holland, easyJet, Tourism Utrecht, The Hague Marketing, Rotterdam Marketing, Amsterdam Tourism & Convention Board, Stena Line, Colonjes and Heineken.

The awards went to the following writers:

Best off the beaten track article was awarded to Nick Boulous: A draining experience? Published in The Independent on 22 September 2012.

Best article about a Dutch Icon was awarded to David Atkinson: Holland on a Plate Published in The Daily Express on 22 July 2012.

Best article about a Dutch city was awarded to Jo Tweedy: Going the extra mile Published in The Mail Online on 26 November 2012.

Journalist of the Year was awarded to Peter Morrell. The NBTC commented ‘Peter has consistently been a great supporter of Holland, which is manifested through the number of great quality articles he has published on Holland in 2012. His passion for Holland and especially its arts & culture is well manifested throughout his features.’

Peter says: ‘I am honoured to have received the Journalist of the Year award from the NBTC. I love Holland, its culture, its people and its unique atmosphere, so it is always a pleasure to write about it. Visitors will find a wealth of visual and performing arts throughout the country as well as a lively culinary scene and, of course, a warm welcome wherever they go.
