Editor Peter Morrell scoops top journalist prize

Managing Editor, Peter Morrell, was recently honoured by the Italian National Tourist Board by being awarded the prize of Best Online Article 2013 in the Category: Best travel article published on a travel or lifestyle website

Peter’s article “Genoa – Private splendour with public purpose” was published on http://www.aboutmygeneration.com and http://www.theculturalvoyager.com before Christmas. It was a story about the lavish Rolli Palaces which were built in Genoa by nobles and merchants and were used as lodging houses by Popes and Kings. To read it click here…

The Award ceremony took place on Tuesday 11th February 2014 at the stylish Getti Italian Restaurant in London’s Marylebone High Street. The awards were organised to recognise UK journalists who had taken photographs and written outstanding articles about Italy in 2013.

In total 123 entries were submitted into six categories. The other winners were

Stefano Scata’ for the photos illustrating the article “Beyond Borders” on Ciociaria, published by Food and Travel.

Category: Best travel article published in a magazine
Adrian Mourby for the article “48 hours in Busseto- a visit to Verdi’s home town” published by Italia! Magazine.

Category: Best travel article published in a newspaper
Simon Calder for the article “In the shadow of Vesuvius” published by The Independent.

Category: Best overall publication for the number and quality of travel articles on Italy
The Times, Sunday Times and Sunday Times Magazine

Peter commented: “I am honoured to have received this award from the Italian National Tourist Board, particularly as there were so many high quality entries. My three day visit to Genoa was a delight and with so much culture on offer it was a pleasure to write about the trip and re-live the experience of seeing so much splendour in one place.”
