L'Assiette Michelin For Zayane

Great news for the restaurant, exactly a year since opening, Zayane a Modern Moroccan Restaurant in London’s Notting Hill, has been awarded a Michelin Plate for 2017, (L’Assiette Michelin)

Zayane

Owner, Casablanca-born, Meryem Mortell, who has no previous hospitality industry experience, opened Zayane in February 2016 offering a unique version of her country’s cuisine. Taking British ingredients and adding authentic, imported spices she created her version of Moroccan food, the likes of which have not been seen before.

Thanks to Mortell’s deep knowledge and understanding of Moroccan food, her endless flexibility: constantly refining the menu; taking criticism on the chin; wrestling with local authorities for the necessary licences to allow her merely to operate; to bravely throwing out the original interiors in favour of a refurbishment with wider appeal, this is testament to hard-work, perseverance and an inherent talent for hospitality.

An intimate neighbourhood restaurant owned by Casablanca-born Meryem Mortell and evoking the sights and scents of North Africa. Carefully conceived dishes have authentic Moroccan flavours but are cooked with modern techniques.” – The Michelin Inspector
