A Young’s pub since 1831, the Coach & Horses has just undergone an extensive refurbishment

It now boasts stylish interiors that ooze charm and character whilst also acknowledging its location, moments from the world-famous Kew Gardens. Add to this, an accomplished new chef in the kitchen who’s created a cracking seasonal British menu, that includes superlative Sunday roasts, and there’s never been a better time to visit this Kew favourite. Rugby fans should also note, the Coach & Horses is around the corner from Twickenham, making it the perfect spot to catch the Autumn Internationals this November.
The Pub & Dining
At the very heart of the Coach & Horses is a welcoming pub with bags of personality. The elegant and vibrant dining room, The Atrium, featuring botanical prints and furnishings, provides the perfect place to dine, drink and unwind. As the evening draws in, find a cosy corner in the Library in front of the log fire for a pint and a bite’ or while away the hours on the front terrace and watch the world go by.
Championing the best of British, and specialising in fresh fish, the menu from new chef Ben Neary has been revitalised. The breakfast, lunch and dinner menus feature both classic and modern British dishes, all characterised by the use of impeccably sourced, seasonal ingredients. From breakfast and brunch through to sharers and Sunday roasts, the Coach & Horses is known for its food – signature dishes include the pub’s fish specials of langoustine, sea trout, mussel and king prawn stargazy pie or whole Newlyn plaice with caper butter sauce, whilst carnivores can indulge in the likes of 28-day aged Angus steak and wild boar and sage patties. The menu also features plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Serving liquid libations for over 180 years, it’s no surprise that the Coach & Horses has an extensive drinks menu, featuring brews on tap such as Camden Pale Ale and Estrella; craft bottled beers and ciders as well as an array of New and Old World wines. A concise and carefully curated cocktail list features one of the best Bloody Marys in town alongside the likes of The Ram, a modern twist on an Old Fashioned made with Young’s house bitters and Johnny Walker Black Label, and classics such as a Negroni, Dark & Stormy and Espresso Martini.
For those looking to host family, friends or colleagues for an event, the Atrium and Library are available for exclusive use and are beautiful spaces suited to a wide variety of occasions, from business lunches to birthdays, wedding receptions or cocktail parties.
Stay The Night
The Coach & Horses also boasts 31 quintessentially British boutique bedrooms – each features custom-made furniture, designer fabrics and wallpaper whilst celebrating the nearby Royal Park through historical botanical print soft furnishings. The bedrooms are fitted with everything you could need for a relaxing stay, including luxurious Hypnos beds with crisp linen, flat screen TVs, fully stocked mini bars and Nespresso machines. Indulgence continues in the bathrooms with powerful rain showers and Green Spring toiletries, and all rooms come with complimentary WiFi, express check-in/check-out and in-room safes as standard.
