Jenkyn Place Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2015 is available in striking gift boxes. It is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes from the vineyards 500 Chardonnay vines.

Owner Simon Bladon comments, “Our brand-new baby has been described as ‘boisterous and fun,’ which we think sums up the bubbles and pizazz of this bottle perfectly. With great acidity and fruitiness, I have found this to be an incredibly food-friendly wine.

Winemaker Dermot Sugrue explains, “We just had to make it; we had no choice – the Chardonnay grapes were just so damn good.

Situated on the south-facing slope of the North Downs in Hampshire, Jenkyn Place is run by Simon Bladon and his daughter Camilla. The winery produces only sparkling wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes grown on soils of greensand over chalk and marlstone. The first vines were planted in 2004 on land which previously grew some of the most sought-after hops in Britain. Today the vineyard has now grown to over 13 acres following the planting of the Pinot Noir last year.

Peter Morrell, editor comments “This is a big characterful wine which showcases the quality and versatility of the Chardonnay grapes grown at the vineyard. Strong fruit aromas in the bouquet lead to the uplifting freshness of citrus and tart fruit. The well-balanced acidity is smooth and pleasing, and makes an ideal festive drink to enjoy with or without food.

Pair with a fresh asparagus tart or white meat, such as chicken in a light garlic and cream sauce.

The Jenkyn Place Brut Classic Cuvee 2014

The wine is made from the classic champagne blend of three grapes, Chardonnay(60%), Pinot Noir (25%) and Pinot Meunier (15%).

Peter Morrell remarks “This is a stylish and elegant wine showing precise citrus notes on the nose with hints of yeast. It has a smooth mouthfeel with exotic fruits and a toasty flavour. The muted acidity makes it an ideal companion for seafood and Charcuterie, and as it’s both vegetarian and vegan, will pair naturally with plant-based dishes. The finish is both strong and persistent.”
