Microplane®, the pioneer of photo-etched graters, introduces the latest addition to the famous paddle-style Gourmet Series
The NEW Fine Julienne Blade Microplane® is the first company to apply photo-etching technology to graters, an innovative process specially designed to create ultra-sharp cutting edges. Made in the USA, the tiny teeth act like extremely sharp knives to cut ingredients precisely, without tearing. Perfect, uniform strips are guaranteed when preparing fine juliennes of cabbage, onion and carrot for fresh coleslaw; beetroot, cucumber and courgette for salads; or apples and pears for sauces and puddings.
A brilliant time-saver (no need to drag out the food processor), the Fine Julienne Blade is also ideal for quickly and easily preparing vegetables for colourful stir-fries and adding magnificent gourmet garnishes such as deep-fried courgette ‘chips’ for soups and tiny shards of chocolate on top of puddings. The latest introduction is also absolutely perfect for creating the classic French Carrot Salad – a delicate balance of sweet raw carrot, tangy lemon juice, olive oil, Dijon mustard and herbs.
A Non-Slip Foot protects the worktop and provides stability when grating at a 45° angle. With no pressure, ingredients slide quickly and easily from the blades without tearing or shredding to produce perfect results every time. The ergonomic, Soft-Touch Handle is easy to hold with either hand and whilst dishwasher safe, it can be cleaned quickly by simply rinsing under the tap. This practical kitchen tool can be hung up via the loop on the handle or, thanks to the low profile and a clear protective cover, safely stored in kitchen drawers or utensil holders.
The NEW Fine Julienne Blade joins the existing Gourmet Series of exciting blade styles which deliver various grating results to meet every need including Fine, Ribbon, Coarse, Extra Coarse, Star and Ultra Coarse blades along with the Large Shaver, the Slicer and Julienne Slicer.
From workshop to the kitchen… frustrated that her grater was tearing and shredding, a housewife went in search of a tool in her husband’s workshop and commandeered one of his favourite woodworking tools to make an orange cake. The blade slid across the orange and the zest fell from its surface like snowflakes. This discovery in 1994 laid the foundation for Microplane® kitchen graters and an entire line of revolutionary graters was born. Microplane is now the grater of choice for professional chefs and cooking enthusiasts worldwide.
The NEW Microplane® Gourmet Series Fine Julienne Blade, RRP £24.95, is available from
