Serve neat, or with a splash of soft water. It can also be enjoyed as part of an Old Fashioned by adding 2 tsp sugar syrup, splash of water and 1-2 dashes of Angostura bitters to a glass filled with ice. Stir in 60ml of Laphroaig whisky and a splash of soda water if you like. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.
Peter Morrell, Editor comments “The Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky is from the small island of Islay which is situated off the west coast of Scotland. The island is exposed to the full force of the Atlantic Ocean and this is reflected in the character of the whisky. The barley is smoked over peat which has absorbed all the natural flavours it is exposed to. This process creates the most powerful of all the Scotch whisky expressions.
“The aroma of wood smoke in the bouquet can be smelt from more than a metre away, on the nose there are more nuanced notes of spice and salt. On the palate you enjoy a rich multi-layered flavour experience with sweet smoke as the predominant flavour together with subtle hints of iodine, vanilla, oak and spice,
“The finish is warm and satisfying.“
