Tesco Finest Premier Cru Brut Champagne Rosé 12.5% abv, £23.00 (vegan)
IWC 2021 Silver Medal Winner
Made from hand-harvested Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, this award-winning rosé Champagne is made exclusively for Tesco by Union Champagne in Avize. Aged for 24-36 months, this length of maturation results in refreshing citrus and red fruit flavours, finishing on a delicate mousse. Perfect as an apéritif or with goat’s cheese tarts.
Gratien & Meyer Crémant de Loire Brut 12.5% abv, £12.00
This crisp and elegant sparkling wine is made from hand-harvested grapes picked in vineyards south of Saumur. Made according to the traditional method, in the same way as Champagne, it offers fine, smooth bubbles. Bursting with toasty and brioche-like notes on the palate, it is delicious chilled on its own or with a prawn cocktail.
La Gioiosa et Amorosa Prosecco Rosé DOC 11% abv, £10.00 (vegan)
This Prosecco Rosé has a pomegranate nuance edged with soft pink reflections. The nose is subtle and fresh, offering hints of small red fruits. Notes of rose and pomegranate complete this elegant and intensely aromatic profile. On the palate, it is silky and full, presenting a very pleasant balance between the fruity and floral notes. Carefully sourced from coastal vineyards that spend the year basking in the Mediterranean sun, this wine boasts delicious stone fruit flavours with notes of fresh strawberries and redcurrants. A crisp, delicate and dry wine, in the signature Côtes de Provence pale pink hue, it works well alongside cranberry and brie tartlets or a fresh strawberry dessert.
Tesco Finest Ribera del Duero 14.5% abv, £12.00
The grapes for this wine come from the most prestigious area within the DO Ribera del Duero, known as the ‘Golden Triangle’. Rich and full-bodied, its concentrated flavours of ripe red fruit are layered with a twist of spice and subtle notes of cedar and vanilla, from its seven months’ ageing in French and American barrels. Serve with beef or mushroom wellington.
Tesco Finest South African Fairtrade Cinsault 13.5% abv, £7.50 (vegan)
Mountain breeze and shade provide perfect vineyard conditions for this Cinsault, a unique and underrated grape variety. Meticulous attention is given in the winemaking resulting in a smooth and elegant wine with aromas of red berries on the nose and a soft, fruity palate with delicate herbal notes. Perfect alongside a lamb roast or aubergine parmigiana.
Planeta L’Amistanza Fiano Grecanico 12.5%, £10.00 (vegan)
Produced from indigenous Fiano and Grecanico grapes grown in the Sicilian hills, this fresh and fruity white evokes Italian holidays and long, lazy lunches. Made by the world renowned, family-run and sustainably minded Planeta winery, it is exclusive to Tesco. Bursting with ripe aromas and flavours of peach, melon and pineapple, it’s a beautiful match for spaghetti alle vongole or vegetable stir fry.
Tesco Finest Valle de Leyda Chardonnay 13% abv, £8.00
Made from premium Chardonnay grapes grown in Valle de Leyda, one of Chile’s more increasingly recognised wine regions, the coastal climate is perfect for ripening white grapes, resulting in aromas of melon and apple with a rounded palate of tropical fruit and vanilla hints. Serve with asparagus risotto or chicken piccata.
