…by releasing a range of exceptional wines for the warmer weather
As the sun starts to peek out from behind the wintry clouds, and buds begin to bloom, it’s time to start thinking about wines to match the new season. From crisp whites to fruity reds and refreshing rosés, the Tesco team have put together a sumptuous selection of wines, perfect for sharing with friends or loved ones this spring.
Leyda Reserva Pinot Noir, 13.5% abv, £12.00
IWC 2021 Bronze Medal Winner
Peter Morrell, Editor comments “I’ve recently tasted this wine and it is very good. This is in part due to the history of the vineyard. It was established during 1998 and was the first location where grapes were planted in the now popular Leyda Valley. The vines benefit from the cooling breezes of the Pacific Ocean, 8 miles away. This maritime influence helps to produce very flavourful cool climate wines.
“The wine pours a ruby red colour with garnet flashes. On the nose there are strong aromas of cherry and strawberry, with hints of tobacco. As the wine moves to the palate the fruit remains and is joined by red stone fruit and black pepper flavours together with notes of vanilla. As the grapes have been grown in a cooler climate, the wine is medium bodied, with some fresh acidity, good minerality, and mild tannins. The finish is fruity and uplifting. As this wine will be consumed in warmer weather, I would consider chilling it.
“The Leyda Reserva Pinot Noir can be sipped on its own or paired with roast lamb, or pasta dishes”
