Bringing Both the Sun-Kissed Allure of The Bayside To Borough And Hearty Wood-Fired Dishes Set Amongst Botanical Bliss. Opens 7th July 2022 on Southwark Street, SE1
TVG hospitality group, the team behind Flat Iron Square and Goods Way, are proud to launch two new destinations at the heart of Borough next month.
On the 7th July, both Carrubo and In Horto will open their doors, bringing two exciting new locations to Southwark Street.
Carrubo is inspired by the bayside bars that colour the coasts of the Mediterranean and seeks to bring that electric bustle and atmosphere to this corner of SE1. The food will centre around a selection of light bites with a range of crostinis, including white crab avocado; ricotta, confit tomatoes; prosciutto, basil, crème fraiche; smoked aubergine, basil, smoked salmon, and cream cheese. Complementing the small but flavourful portions at Carrubo is an enviable drinks selection from tap wines to classic cocktails, a spritz collection, and a well as a range of draft beers, and a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails lovers.
It’s an ideal new spot for an informal, laid-back but atmospheric experience, both day and night. Guests can take full advantage of the Summer sunshine with a host of tables in the sun-trapped open spaces that circle Carrubo, with plenty of covered spaces too to shelter from the heat or the drizzle. No booking is required, in order to keep things suitably impromptu.
Opening right next door is In Horto, translated from Latin ‘in the garden’, which is exactly that; a rustic dining concept that puts pastoral tradition at the centre. A more refined dining experience where hearty, wholesome and rustic plates are served straight from the vast in-house, bespoke brick oven. It brings a sense of sharing, warmth and belonging.
Diners are welcomed amongst the flora and botanicals that drape down from the rafters, and whilst the plates are big enough to share, they will evoke the exquisite comfort of home-cooking that you’ll want to keep all to yourself. Indulge in dishes such as whole baked cauliflower with four-cheese potatoes; cod fillet with fire-roasted ratatouille; roast chicken with garlic potatoes and leeks, or a hearty slow-cooked lamb shoulder complimented by harissa vegetables.
The suppliers are almost completely local, and have an emphasis on sustainability and seasonality, including Henderson Seafood, HG Walter butchers and Natoora veg.
A broad wine list complements In Horto, from the multi-award-winning Liberty Wines. Featuring wines from the best producers and vineyards in the world, including renowned estates to trailblazers. In Horto’s menu will include exceptional organic and biodynamic labels.
Carrubo and In Horto promise to be two very welcome additions to an area that is quickly making a name for itself as one of the fastest-rising new spots for wining and dining in the capital.
