Bamboo Mat Launches NEW Luxury Tasting Menu

Offering a fresh perspective on Nikkei cuisine, Bamboo Mat Stratford has launched the ultimate luxury tasting menu

Bamboo Mat Dish

The menu takes diners on a journey through the highlights of Peru and Japan is now on offer at Bamboo Mat Stratford, East Village.

For just £55 a head, guests can enjoy a 9-course menu that takes them on a culinary journey through the best of Peruvian and Japanese dishes. The premium menu offers a combination of starters, mains, sushi and dessert, with an optional wine pairing available for an additional £25.

To begin, guests will be served Bamboo Mat’s renowned Seabass Ceviche. Embracing Peruvian flavours from first bite, thin slices of seabass, scallops and prawns are marinated in yuzu and combine the refreshing citrus flavours with Peruvian cancha corn, aji amarillo, tiger’s milk, sweet potato and red onion.

Next comes the Hamachi Tiradito, made up of fresh yellowtail kingfish with yuzu truffle soy. Tiradito is a variation of Ceviche, but with sashimi style fish and a spicy dressing. The name comes from the Spanish verb tirar which means to throw – as the fish and dressing are thrown together quickly, just before serving. For a fresh accompaniment, guests can finish this trio of starters with a refreshing salad of baby spinach, wasabi dressing and sesame seeds. The wine pairing to enjoy alongside these plates is a light and zesty Wairu River Sauvignon Blanc.

A dish that originated in the Andes region in the 16th century, Chicken Anticucho embodies Peruvian culture and has become a firm favourite amongst diners at Bamboo Mat. The tender chicken thighs, anticucho sauce and chives make for a main course that is sure to delight. For additional indulgence and a nod to Japanese flavour, the second main course is succulent Ox Cheek, with yuzu potato puree and teriyaki sauce. To match these rich dishes, the restaurant recommends a smooth red from Portugal – DFJ Vinhod Coreto Tinto.

Known for its innovative sushi, Bamboo Mat has specifically chosen a delicious selection of rolls and maki to complement flavours in the elevated offering. Guests can tuck into Bluefin tuna nigiri, A4 Grade Wagyu beef aburi nigiri, and expertly crafted Dragon maki, made with pawn, avocado and eel sauce – presenting a combination of authentic Japanese and Peruvian ingredients to round off the menu. For a traditional sushi accompaniment, diners can sip the highest grade of sake – Junmai Daiginjo.

To finish, diners will be provided with something sweet – a surprise selection of chef’s choice desserts.

Whether for an anniversary meal, birthday treat or classy weekend outing, book now for a luxury culinary journey through Peru and Japan and experience a menu of true Nikkei perfection.
