Small Ship Cruising in Canada

Explore Canada’s Pacific Coast aboard a converted fishing vessel with Canada As You Like It’s latest cruise packages

The Canada specialist tour operator has introduced four small ship cruises that take just 16 passengers aboard the Pacific Bear, for an exclusive tour of British Columbia’s hidden gems.

Pacific Coastal Cruise: Vancouver Island, The Gulf Islands & The San Juan Islands of Washington State

Visit the picturesque seaside village of Cowichan Bay and take a horse drawn carriage ride in Chemainus before cruising the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands of Washington State. With picturesque views and an abundance of marine life, these islands are known as one of the world’s best coastal cruising destinations.

This eight-night cruise package costs from £2,923 per person and includes return international flights, hotel accommodation and a five-night cruise (including all meals and excursions). Based on two people sharing and travelling in May 2020.

Grizzlies of Toba in British Columbia

Cruise to the remote Toba Inlet, where you will join a grizzly bear viewing tour guided by indigenous Klahoose guides, to see bears feeding on salmon in their natural habitat. The bear tours allow a maximum of 12 people, for an intimate experience and for minimal impact on the bears.

Only accessible by water or air, participants will stay at Homfray Lodge in the globally renowned Desolation Sound, where they can kayak, paddle board and settle in for the night around a cosy campfire.

This three-day package costs from £1,329 per person and includes two nights at Homfray Lodge, meals, naturalist led cruise and a grizzly bear viewing tour. This package does not include flights.

Desolation Sound Wilderness Discovery

Humpback whales, orcas, and grizzly bears all call the Desolation Sound home. Handily, this cruise even has an onboard naturalist to help you spot them.

You’ll be in the footsteps (well, something like that) of Captain George Vancouver, and your captain will demonstrate the ancient maritime navigation techniques used when the area was first discovered.

Every evening, the cruise excursion disembarks at renowned coastal ecolodges including Homfray Lodge and Tsa-Kwa Luten Lodge on Quadra Island.

This four-night package costs from £1,949 sharing a twin cabin. This includes accommodation, all meals, naturalist led cruise, and use of facilities at Homfray Lodge. This package does not include flights.

Homfray Explorer, British Columbia

Things run at a different pace in Desolation Sound, and its wilderness has scarcely change over time. Perfect for a languid cruise through its tranquil and pristine waters, spotting wildlife with the help of an onboard naturalist.

On day two you will cruise and explore remote Toba Inlet with its glacier blue water and cascading waterfalls.

The homely Homfray Lodge, surrounded by the peaks of the Coast Mountain range and rainforest, will be your accommodation for 3-nights. You can take advantage of its dock to explore, kayak and paddle board.

This three-night cruise costs from £1,598 per person, including hotel accommodation (including all meals and excursions), and use of facilities at Homfray Lodge. This package does not include flights.
