Introducing Berczy, the refreshingly new hard Seltzer. Peter Morrell takes a taste
Popular in the U.S. and Canada for a while, hard seltzers have now hit the U.K. just in time for the post lockdown social boom. So if you are looking for a great tasting and refreshing drink that’s perfect for warm spring and summer days, reach for Berczy, the bright, bold and refreshingly positive alcoholic sparkling water brand.
Berczy is the brainchild of three old friends, Nick Graham, Nick Johnson and Matt Richardson. Having visited Toronto’s Berczy Park in the summer of 2019 and having seen the impact of hard seltzers there, they vowed to come back and introduce their own concept to the UK.
For those of you who don’t know, hard seltzers are a mix of sparkling water, alcohol and natural flavourings. Low in calories and carbs, Berczy is just 75 calories a can and is so fresh-tasting and light that you can enjoy a can on a hot summer’s day whilst you work, or pack one in your picnic as a little treat.
There are three tasty and fruity flavours in the Berczy range, all made using fresh fruit and real ingredients. Choose from zingy Lemon & Lime, fruity Peach & Raspberry or tropical Passionfruit & Turmeric for a totally refreshing taste experience.
I’ve tasted all three flavours in the range, served chilled, they are a great alternative to wine, beer or a cocktail and carry far fewer calories. Every version has its own distinct character, my own favourite was the Lemon & Lime as it was redolent of a G & T, but I also enjoyed the freshness of the Peach & Raspberry and the unique combination of Passionfruit & Turmeric.
With the world waking up to hard seltzers as the top choice for responsible, low-impact drinking, Berczy puts quality, taste and clean ingredients at the top of the tick list, meeting the demands of modern consumers who care about their health and the health of those around them.
A sustainable brand, that cares about health and environment, Berczy also gives 5% of its profits to environmental charities.
