Viñalba Gran Reservado Malbec – £16.00
The Gran Reservado Malbec is our flagship wine, hand-crafted by winemaker Hervé J Fabre to showcase the stunning quality that Argentine Malbec can produce. The grapes are hand-picked and are carefully selected before a long, slow fermentation. The wine is then aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The nose has ripe black cherry fruit aromas with perfumed elegance from hints of violets and liquorice. The palate is smooth and rich, with plenty of dark fruit, layers of soft oak, and lighter floral notes.
Tesco Finest The Trilogy Malbec – £12.00
Dark violet in colour,ripe plum and chocolate aromas, followed by supple, dark fruit flavours with vanilla and black pepper finish. Sourced from three exceptional high altitude vineyard sites in the Uco Valley, Lunlunta and Agrelo in Argentina, which produce Malbec of perfect balance, concentration and elegance. Great with grilled, roasted or barbecued meat.
DV Catena Tinto Historico Malbec – £12.00
D.V. Catena Tinto Historico Malbec is a blend of 95% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Bonarda made to honour the legendary abilities of Don Domingo’s as a master blender.
Domingo Vicente Catena married Angélica Zapata in 1934, thereby giving birth to the Catena Zapata tradition. With a singular sense of passion and dedication, he devoted his life to improving the cultivation of the vine in Mendoza. Domingo Vicente Catena, Laura Catena’s grandfather, thought that Malbec could made a wine as great as the best of France. Upon his death, his son Nicolás Catena decided to honor his father by making Malbec world-famous.
Malamado Fortified Malbec – £9.00
Malamado is the first fortified wine made in Argentina. This Malamado Malbec is sweet and silky, with delicate and intense aromas of quince, ripe figs, raisins and plums. It is a wonderful partner for chocolate, cheese, nuts, raisins and figs.
Tesco Finest Argentinian Malbec – £8.00
Made by Argentina’s celebrated Catena Family winemakers. Handpicked grapes, from the foothills of regions east of the Andes, are perfectly ripened, giving the wine elegant blackberry and plum flavours. Lighter notes of blueberry and white pepper develop into a long and fruity finish. Pair with red meats, full flavoured pasta and mushroom dishes.
Tesco Finest South African Malbec – £7.50
A deliciously rich, ripe Malbec made from grapes grown in vineyards that stretch along the foothills of South Africa’s Western Cape. Bursting with dark fruit flavours of black cherry, plum and blackberry, this is a well structured wine with an elegant hint of spice on the finish. Perfect with steak, pizza or dishes with rich tomato sauce.
