These aromatic Riesling grapes are hand-picked from the extremely steep slopes on the edge of the Mosel River in North-Western Germany. This white wine is a dry style of Riesling, designed to show off the bright elegance and balance of steely minerality and delicate flavours of orchard fruit; lovely with Sushi or creamy cheeses.

Tesco Finest Cinsault Rosé, 11.5% abv, £7.50

IWC 2023 Commended

A light and flavourful rosé produced from grapes grown on South Africa’s Western Cape, where oceanic breezes provide perfect vineyard conditions for this refreshing, bright rosé. The wine is an attractive pale colour. It is dry and light on the palate with notes of strawberry and raspberry, and pairs very well with a range of salads, prawns and salmon dishes.

Tesco Finest Barossa Shiraz, 14.5% abv, £11

Produced for Tesco by Accolade Wines, one of Australia’s largest and leading wine companies, this Barossa Shiraz is lightly oaked and aged in stainless steel tanks, resulting in notes of dark berry fruits, pepper spices and chocolate. Pair this wine with a beef stroganoff or mushroom wellington.

Tesco Finest Douro, 12% abv, £11

IWC 2023 Bronze

This rich red wine is produced from indigenous grape varieties grown and hand-picked on the breath-taking slopes of the Douro Valley in Northern Portugal. The wine is powerful yet elegant, with aromas of red and black fruits and subtle spice leading to a harmonious palate with a long, concentrated finish. A perfect match for lamb cutlets or aubergine parmigiana.

Tesco Finest Montagne Saint-Émilion, 13% abv, £10 (vegan)

IWC 2023 Silver
IWSC 2023 Bronze

Peter Morrell, Editor, comments “I have tasted this wine, and it is a fine example of Montagne Saint-Émilion. It is made with the best Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes that have been harvested from vineyards on the right bank of Bordeaux’s Gironde estuary.

There are strong aromas of blackcurrent and blackberries in the bouquet, together with hints of oak. In the mouth the body is between medium and full, and the well-structured tannins create a smooth texture. On the palate it really comes alive, driven mainly by the Cabernet Franc grape, which gives it a very dry feel, and a pleasant earthy taste. There are also a lot of other flavours vying for attention, like tobacco, spicy vanilla, and liquorice. The finish is dry, fruity and persistent.

Drink this wine with roasted red meat and hearty casseroles.”

Tesco Finest English Sparkling, 11.5% abv, £21 (vegan)

IWC 2023 Bronze

This celebrated sparkling wine is produced by the award-winning Balfour Winery in Kent, from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes hand-harvested in their own estate vineyards. Crisp and elegant, it boasts attractive aromas of apple and bright citrus with a hint of delicate brioche. On the palate, it is dry with a delicate mousse and long finish. It’s great to toast a special occasion this festive season.

Tesco Finest Blanquette de Limoux, 12.5% abv, £10 (vegan)

Fantastic value sparkling wine from one of the oldest regions for fine bubbles in France, with Blanquette de Limoux first created back in 1531. Keeping with tradition, this wine has been aged in bottle for 12 months to produce complex flavours of peach, apples and toasted brioche. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood or alongside an apple tart.
